Shahi Paneer

Shahi paneer is a really easy recipe to make. Despite the fact we think it takes way too long to cook, it doesn’t. Ingredients are not hard to get, as 90% are easily found in home.
Serve it a dinner or lunch, in a get together or weekend. Always loved and really easy to make.

Serves: 3-5 people

Cooking time: 45 minutes.
Shahi Paneer

Ingredients:

3 onions (diced)

4-5 small tomatoes (diced)

4 tbsp ghee/ white oil/ vegetable oil/ olive oil

3 tbsp fresh cream/ malai

Handful of cashews

3 tbsp curd

1/2 tsp hing (optional)

2 tsp cumin (jeera)

2 tsp red chilli powder

4 tsp cilantro (dhaniya) powder

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

1/2 cup water/ milk

salt (to taste)

1/2 tsp dried fenugreek seeds (kasuri methi) powder

Diced paneer, size depends on you.

Instructions:

Step 1:
  • In a wok, add 2 tbsp ghee/ oil and cook diced onion till they turn golden brown.
  • In a mixer grinder, add golden brown onion, tomatoes, cashews and blend.

Step 2:
  • In a wok, on medium flame, add rest of the ghee (or any other oil you picked as per your taste), hing, jeera, paste (from step 1).
  • Stir it for 2 minutes.
  • Add, curd and cream in the wok and stir for another 4-5 minutes.
  • Add red chilli powder, turmeric, dhaniya powder and stir for another 2 minutes.
  • Add water and salt.
  • Let it sit on medium flame and stir for another 4 minutes.
  • Add diced paneer (cottage cheese), kasuri methi and let it cook for 15-20 minutes.
  • Ready to serve.
